Ok... so the buying of the scotch, in that quantity, and expense, on a Sunday morning, away from his home town, does not look good. Could be scandalous even. But the Cadillac? Really? That thing is close to 20 years old. You're really grasping at straws there....

Let's Talk Horror Movies
by LoveUniHateExams inhorror is easily my favourite genre of movie so i just thought i'd start a thread on it.. horror can be done badly and there are plenty of crap horror movies, no doubt about that.
but horror can also be done very well, too - often on a low budget.. plus, there are quite a lot of subgenres - slasher, supernatural, monster movies, body horror, psychological horror, zombie, vampire, etc.. so, do you like horror?.
what's your favourite subgenre?.

Oh yah... cant forget Lost boys! I haven't seen any of the others you listed. I'll have to check them out. As you can tell my tastes are pretty secular. Have you seen Dracula untold?

Favorite Vampire Movie?
Mine would be split between Interview with the Vampire (really my favorite)
And Bram Stokers, Dracula.
Neither of which I would say fall into the "Horror" genre, but are great movie monster, vampire movies.

In my book, Psycho is definitely king when it comes to suspense thriller/horror, using suggestive filmography instead of outright gore.
The Shining is a good mix of suspense with a bit of gore, but not overly done.
Have you seen the Skeleton key? I'm not usually into supernatural thrillers, but man that's a good movie!
M Night Shyamalans, Signs is a pretty good suspense movie
So, I really prefer suspense when it comes to Horror movies.
Great post topic, btw!

Very Kool, Snugglebunny! I love seeing pics of peoples rare, classic, or custom cars. Wish I could say what my first car was, but it would definitely give me away to the right person...
You should see some of the vehicles I have/had.

My kids were on their early 20s before getting their licenses or cars. They showed little interest in getting them at 16, and though I tried to interest them and work with them through those years, they just didnt seem to care. In speaking with friends who have kids about the same age, it seems they also didnt care, and didnt get a license or cars until they were much older. This Is the new normal. It's hard for me to understand as having a license and a car was my generations, and the preceding generations, ticket to freedom. It's how we socialized. With the advent of the internet, and specifically social media and smart phones, young adults can socialize without leaving home. So they dont seem to care as much. Add to that Uber/Lyft, Byrd and Lime scooters, and the many other ride share and transportation innovations that are changing the need for car ownership, and I think this is just the beginning of the end of our love affair with automobiles. On the flip side, you cant get injured in a computer crash, or pregnant in the back seat of the internet... 😆 -

This Forum. Has it changed? For the better or for the worse? Or not a at all?
by ThomasCovenant inwhen i post i try to imagine that i am at a social gathering or sometimes in someone's house as a dinner guest.
that way it is easier to follow the community guidelines and posting rules set out on the site at the bottom of the page.
i wouldn't want to make a fool of myself in public.

To play devils advocate for a moment, most anything JW has been discussed to death here. Everything has been discussed, dissected, scrutinized, and reviewed from multiple angles, many times over. Most of the scandles are old news, or a new case with the same storyline. It's not that any of these things shouldn't be discussed at length ever again, but after a while, it's nice to discuss other things. People come here to learn and grow. Most show up questioning themselves and the beliefs instilled in them. If they stick around, they start to grow as a person. As we grow, we need more. Being able to discuss politics, and other subjects, helps us to grow, and makes this an ever evolving forum of discussion and debate. Many who come here have never discussed or shared their political feelings, or world views, as those were stifled, repressed, or nonexistent, as witnesses. This is a place where, as ex witnesses, it seems safe to share our thoughts and viewpoints on such matters, as other places may seem much more intimidating, given our retarded learning curve and understanding of all things forbidden by JW (especially for those of us born in). Personally, I feel safer expressing my thoughts here, even though I know none of you. Yet you all know where I come from. That you may excuse a lack of complete understanding, or forgive a stupid mistake in something I say, or a viewpoint I hold, as I am forever flawed by the beliefs I was raised with. The beliefs each and every one of you held at some point. So we have an understanding. A common ground from which we can relate, even if we differ in our current thoughts and beliefs.
And besides. Who wants to rehash the same thing over and over again? One of the BIGGEST issues I had with going to meetings. After being gone for over 10 years, when I came back, it was the same frickin thing, regurgitated over and over. Like I never left!
No disrespect to those who bring up old subjects. I completely understand there is a constant influx of new ones questioning their jw beliefs, and it's so much easier to look at something new that comes up here, or ask questions, than to go digging in the archives. And its definitely interesting to hear a new take on our old beliefs, a new scandal, or a new lawsuit, or new developments within the organization. It's just nice to be able to discuss other topics.

Mr Smolletts station in life, as well as his race and sexual orientation, definitely all factored into this outcome. He is the perfect storm of problems for the judicial system. The absolute best way for the prosecutors (as well as many others who support/defend him, that have clout) to save face in his case, is to make it go away as quickly and quietly as possible. Yes, it's an uproar now, but because it was dealt with so swiftly, it will all but be forgotten about in the next few months, as the news cycle moves through everything that is to come. As the perfect storm, Jussie and his defenders, will scream bigotry, hate, bias, and victimhood, all because he is black, and gay. That is the circus his attorneys would create, and the media would stir the pot. Those prosecutors would rather take a little egg on their face now than go through months of that circus, and risk him getting off in the end. At least that's my opinion on the matter.
Given what we all know he did, and that instead of just wiping his brow, counting his lucky stars, and slinking off quietly into the shadows, he again spoke out at a news conference, arrogantly proclaiming victory and his innocence, I predict we will see him again, getting himself into trouble. Maybe sooner than later, If he insists on continuing his public statements declaring his innocence and vindication, flying in the face of the Chicago police. I will not be surprised in the least if something harmful to his health "accidentally" crosses his path. Like an acute case of lead poisoning...
